How to Create Product Videos for Free with AI

In the ever-evolving world of e-commerce, product videos have become an indispensable tool for businesses to showcase their offerings and engage potential customers. However, creating high-quality videos can be daunting, often requiring expensive software and technical expertise. Fortunately, AI-powered tools like HeyGen are revolutionizing the video creation process, empowering even those with no prior experience to produce compelling product videos effortlessly.

In this article, I will provide a step-by-step walkthrough for creating product videos for free using HeyGen, an AI video creator that converts a URL into a complete video. This tool allows you to create a video using human avatars, a feature that makes videos more engaging than those produced with regular AI video makers.

This tool works in 40+ languages and 300+ voices, so you can reach a broader audience while maintaining incredible lip movement in the video.

HeyGen has a free plan that allows you to create up to three three-minute videos monthly. However, if you are keen to pay $24 per month, you can create unlimited (yes, unlimited) videos per month.

Let´s check how it works:

1-Create an account

Go to HeyGen.com and sign up for a free account.

Once you log in, you are on the main dashboard. As you can notice, this platform has lots of options for creating AI videos, but for this article, I will focus only in product videos.

Now, in the left column, click on "Labs," and a new window will appear. Click on "URL to video."

2-Copy and paste your product URL

Now the screen changes, and there is a textbox where I can paste a URL

Notice that the text box accepts URLs from Amazon, Shopify, eBay, Etsy, or any E-Commerce page.

Suppose I need to make a promo video for a Bluetooth speaker. Let´s go to Amazon and search for it; I type in the search box  "Bluetooth speaker," and choose a random product for the purpose of this article.

Now I copy the product URL from Amazon, paste it into the textbox, and click on the "Generate video" button.

The system takes the product name and description. I can easily modify, add, or delete additional information, including the company´s logo.

It also adds media from the product webpage. But notice that I can delete or even add some new images.

3-Check the product description and the AI-generated script

Once I am happy with the description, I click on the "Next" button

Now, the platform asks for the target audience so the AI can fine-tune the script. This is crucial as the final script will depend on the intended audience. Notice that you are free to insert the target audience with your own words too.

Let´s choose "outdoor enthusiasts" and "home entertainers."

Now I must choose a language for my videoChoose video and locale, which adjusts voice pronunciation for better viewer engagement.

Click on the "Next" button, and the system shows  different AI script-generated options:

Using AI, the system crafted four options: The top three reasons, quick demonstration, solution-oriented,and inspiring.

Any of these scripts can be edited as per my preferences.

I choose the "Solution-oriented" script and click the "Next" button.

4-Choose your avatar, template, and music

Now, the magic appears. The system offers seven templates so that I can preview each video option.

I chose the floating avatar + voice option. Each template suits a different product and audience, allowing granular control of the final output.

I can select my human avatar and background music from a vast library of royalty-free assets on this screen.

This platform also creates automatic captions. You only have to toggle the Caption button to the right.

5-Render your video

The video begins rendering, and it takes 5 minutes to complete. Since I am on the free plan, I guess this time can be improved if I choose a paid plan.

The video now appears in my library, and I can share it by link, share it on X, Tiktok, or download it.
